Anna Faris Enlists As "Private Benjamin"

Actress Anna Faris ("The House Bunny") will star in a New Line/Warners remake of the 1980 comedy feature "Private Benjamin", that intends to recruit more women into the armed forces.

Premise of the original film followed 'Judy Benjamin', who joins the Army after her husband dies during sex on their wedding night.

"Private Benjamin" received three Oscar nominations, including Best Actress for Hawn, Best Supporting Actress for Eileen Brennan and Best Original Screenplay.

The new film, produced by Mark Gordon ("Army Wives"), from a screenplay by Amy Talkington ("Brave New Girl"), will set the story in contemporary times with 'modern wars' as the backdrop.
