Maguire Gears Up For "Robotech"

Now that actor Tobey Maguire is 'Spider-Man No More', things are gearing up for Maguire Entertainment's production of Warners live-action "Robotech", scripted by "Smallville" writer/producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

"Robotech" is based on the 1980's Harmony Gold USA/Tatsunoko, Japanese cartoon series, set at a time when Earth has developed giant 'mecha' robots from new technology discovered in an alien spacecraft that crashed into a South Pacific isle. Mankind is then forced to use robots to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two pilots.

Maguire will produce and possibly star in a potential franchise of films.

"We are very excited to bring 'Robotech' to the big screen," he said. "There is a rich mythology that will be a great foundation..."
