Lucas, Scorsese, Spielberg @ Kurosawa 100th

The Academia Foundation and Anaheim University will present a memorial tribute to Japanese film-maker Akira Kurosawa on the 100th anniversary of his birth.

Guests will include Kurosawa's son and President of Kurosawa Productions, Hisao Kurosawa, as well as directors Martin Scorsese, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

Kurosawa introduced Japanese cinema to North American audiences, inspiring numerous action films including "Star Wars", "The Magnificent Seven" and "A Fistful of Dollars".

'The Tribute' will be a main event during the 2010 'Green Globe Film Awards', March 23, @ the Westin Bonaventure Hotel's California Ballroom in Los Angeles. According to organizers, the Bonaventure was selected for its capacity to host 1,200 people, in the largest dinner venue of any hotel in California.
