Director Jacques Audiard's prison drama "Un Prophete" (A Prophet) won numerous awards @ the annual "Cesar" Awards February 27, earning 'Best Film', 'Best Actor' and 'Best Director' prizes.
"A Prophet," won 'Best Foreign Film' at the UK's BAFTA Awards last week, as well as nominated in the same category at the Academy Awards, March 7.
In addition to 'Best Actor', "A Prophet" lead Tahar Rahim also won for 'Best Newcomer' and Niels Arestrup won for 'Best Supporting Actor' for his portrayal of a gang boss."We had a really exceptional cast of extras", said Audiard, who hired former prisoners to play background performers.
