Starz' original series "Spartacus: Blood And Sand" is a new kind of "300"-like TV experience, with nudity, sexual deviance, whippings, chainings. slo-mo decapitations and inspired "Kill Bill" meets Frank Frazetta battle sequences.
"Spartacus" is a Thracian soldier who volunteers to fight in the Roman Auxiliary against a common enemy of Thrace and Rome. As his punishment for defying Roman commander 'Legatus Claudius Glaber', he is sentenced to die in the gladiatorial arena, but against all odds kills four gladiators and survives. His sentence is commuted to slavery and he is bought by 'Batiatus' to be trained as a gladiator in his 'ludus', hoping to be reunited one day with his kidnapped wife.

The series premiered January 22, 2010 rated TV-MA for graphic violence, strong sexual content, and major profanity. December 22, 2009, it was announced that the show was renewed for a second season before its debut.
