Sony Flexes FX "Powers"

Acording to reports, writer Kevin "Journeyman" Falls will script a TV pilot for the Sony adaptation of superhero comic book series, "Powers". If the pilot gets a green light from the FX Network , director will be Michael "Kidnapped" Dinner.

Written by Brian Michael Bendis, illustrated by Michael Avon Oeming, "Powers" was published by Image Comics 2000 to 2004 and Marvel Comics' Icon imprint from 2004.

"Powers" is set in a world where superpowers are relatively common, following the lives of detectives 'Christian Walker' and 'Deena Pilgrim', assigned to Homicide to investigate cases that involve 'super-human' powers.

Walker used to be the costumed superhero 'Diamond', but became a cop after he lost his abilities. Retaining his connections with the superhero 'community', Walker became engaged to an ex-colleague, who is later killed.

In later issues, Walker is offered the chance to become a 'Guardian' as part of 'The Millennium Guard', a secret intergalactic group.

Partner Deena also has problems, contracting superpowers during a fight with a thug named 'Bug'. As a result of this, she unintentionally kills her abusive boyfriend in self-defense, then hides the evidence.
