SAG Approves Feature Prime-Time Deal

According to reports, Screen Actors Guild members have ratified a two-year feature-primetime contract with a 78% yes vote.

SAG announced the results this evening, three weeks after sending out ballots to 110,000 eligible members.

SAG's deal includes a 3.5% annual hike in minimums, a 3% salary hike in the first year plus a 0.5% gain in pension and health contributions in the first year and a 3.5% salary increase in the second.

It also spells out the pay structure for shows streamed on and made for the Internet...

According to reports, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" co-creator Kevin Eastman, owner of the 'illustrated adult fantasy' art magazine "Heavy Metal", has confirmed that director James Cameron will co-executive the upcoming film adaptation, with plans to direct an animated episodic segment.

Other creatives interested in developing episodes are directors David "Fight Club" Fincher, Zack "Watchmen" Snyder and Mark "Kung Fu Panda" Osborne interested in developing a 'comedy segment' with Jack Black.

The origins of the magazine, began in the mid-1970's, when publisher Leonard Mogel, in Paris to start the French edition of "National Lampoon" magazine, discovered the French science-fantasy magazine "Métal Hurlant", first published in 1974.


When Mogel licensed the American version, he renamed it "Heavy Metal" debuting April, 1977 as a glossy, full-color monthly, displaying translations of graphic stories published in "Métal Hurlant", including works by Enki Bilal, Jean Giraud (aka 'Moebius'), Phillippe Druillet, Milo Manara and Philippe Caza.

The magazine later ran Stefano Tamburini and Tanino Liberatore's "RanXerox".

In 1986, "Heavy Metal" dropped back to a quarterly schedule, going bi-monthly in 1989. In 1991, "Turtles" co-creator Kevin Eastman acquired the magazine and became publisher/editor...

Neeson Negotiates With "The A-Team"...

Actor Liam "Dark Man" Neeson is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to star in the developing big screen adaptation of "The A-Team".

Neeson would play 'Col. John "Hannibal" Smith' for director Joe "Narc" Carnahan, adapting the 1980's TV series.

Production will start in late August for a June 11, 2010 theatrical release.

Sir Ridley "Blade Runner" Scott will produce the film with Jules Daly and series co-creator Stephen J. Cannell. Ridley's brother Tony "Domino" Scott will executive produce for Scott Free.

Carnahan and Brian Bloom developed the screenplay by Skip "Wolverine" Woods.

The original TV series "The A-Team" was an action adventure about a group of ex-US Army Special Forces soldiers who work as mercenaries, while on the run from the military for a "crime they didn't commit".

Created by writer/producers Frank Lupo and Cannell (who also collaborated on the Vancouver-lensed "Wiseguy" and "Dirty Harry" knockoff "Hunter".)

The "A-Team" series ran for five seasons on NBC, January 23, 1983 to December 30, 1986 for a total of 98 episodes.

The name of the show is derived from "A-teams",a code word for the 'Operational Detachments Alpha (ODA), used by the US Army Special Forces for their 12-man direct operations teams...
