Singer Attending "X-Men: First Class"

Director Bryan "Superman Returns" Singer will take on the Fox feature "X-Men: First Class" for producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg, based on a script treatment Singer wrote for the film.

Screenplay is by Jamie Moss.

In Toronto, Singer directed Fox' first "X-Men" film in 2000. Two subsequent "X-Men" sequels were filmed in Vancouver.

"X-Men: First Class" will focus on the back-story of the famous Marvel Comics' mutant super-hero team, during their formative years, revolving around 20-something "X-Men" mutant leader 'Xavier' and his nemesis, 'evil' mutant 'Magneto', revealing how their relationship took a 'wrong turn', to the detriment of mankind.

Singer also confirmed there will be a romantic element, with some of the original mutants from the "X-Men" team entering into the scheme of things, as well as 'new mutants' and a new villain.

Fox continues to develop a dedicated feature revolving around "Magneto", a sequel to "Wolverine" and a film on the "Deadpool" character that co-starred in Hugh Jackman's "Wolverine".

Singer is also attached to direct another movie based on "Battlestar Galactica" as well as a remake of John Boorman's "Excalibur".
