Bettany and Connelly Monkey Around With "Creation"...

"Creation" is the controversial new film focusing on scientist Charles Darwin's relationship with his eldest daughter 'Annie', as the author struggled to document his radical theories in the book "On the Origin of Species", published in 1859.

Considered the foundation of evolutionary biology, the book introduces the theory that populations evolve over the course of generations through a process of 'natural selection' and that the diversity of life arose by common descent through a branching pattern of evolution. Darwin backed up his theories with evidence gathered on his 'Beagle' sea voyage expedition during the 1830's and subsequent findings from research, correspondence and experimentation.

Produced by Jeremy "Tideland" Thomas, "Creation" was directed by Jon "The Core" Amiel, starring husband and wife team, Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly as 'Charles' and 'Emma Darwin'.

Screenplay is by John Collee, adapting author Randal Keynes's Darwin biography "Annie's Box".

The film premiered in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.

According to Thomas, the US was one of the last countries to find a distributor for the film due to ongoing 'creation vs. evolution' debates among religious groups, until
Newmarket Films ("The Passion Of Christ"), agreed to distribute the Icon film with plans for a release this month.

In Canada, D Films will release the film in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver, January 22, 2010.
