"...'Jake Sully' (Sam Worthington), a former Marine wounded and paralyzed from the waist down in combat on Earth, is selected to participate in the Avatar program, which will enable him to walk.
He travels to 'Pandora', a lush jungle-covered extraterrestrial moon filled with incredible life forms, some beautiful, many terrifying.
Since humans are unable to breathe the air on Pandora, genetically-bred human-'Na’vi' hybrids are created, known as 'Avatars'.
Through his Avatar body, Jake is sent into the Pandorian jungles as a scout for soldiers that will follow, meeting the young Na’vi female, 'Neytiri' (Zoe SaldaƱa), whose beauty is matched only by her ferocity in battle.
Na’vi are considered primitive, yet more physically capable than humans. Standing 10 ft tall, with tails and sparkling blue skin, the Na’vi live in harmony with their unspoiled world.
But as humans encroach deeper into Pandora's forests in search of valuable minerals, the Na’vi unleash their formidable warrior abilities to defend their threatened existence.
Over time, Jake integrates himself into the Na'vi clan, and begins to fall in love with Neytiri, finding himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth and the Na’vi, choosing sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire world..."
Composer James "Space Raiders" Horner scored "Avatar", his third collaboration with Cameron after "Aliens" and "Titanic", recording parts of the music with a small chorus singing in the alien language 'Na'vi', as well as working with ethnomusicologist Wanda Bryant, to create a music culture for the alien race.
