The World Bends Over For "Kiss-Ass"...

Focus Features Intl. has acquired director Matthew Vaughn's "Kick-Ass" for the U.K., Australia, Germany, Latin America, Austria, Switzerland and New Zealand. Lionsgate previously acquired North American rights.

The vigilante-themed feature stars Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Mark Strong.

Vaughn’s Marv Films independently financed the feature, co-produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner’s Plan B.

Premise of "Kick-Ass" follows 'Dave Lizewski', a New York City high school student and the child of single father 'Greg Willer', who takes his interest in comic books as inspiration to become a real-life superhero, a
ssembling a suit and mask, worn under his normal clothing.

His first attempt at fighting crime results in a severe beating and stabbing by thugs, followed by his wandering into the street and being hit by a car.

But he retains his secret vigilante identity, by hiding his costume before paramedics arrive.

Telling his father he was mugged, Dave undergoes intense physical rehabilitation, including four operations. He is released weeks later, and as soon as he is off crutches dons the suit once more and goes on patrol. When he saves a man from a mugging, an onlooker catches the scene on a cellphone camera and uploads it to YouTube, turning Lizewski into an overnight sensation christened with the name 'Kick-Ass'...
