The Walt Disney Company has announced a $4 billion deal to acquire Marvel Entertainment.
Disney said it would pay a combination of 60 percent cash and 40 percent stock to acquire Marvel, which owns 5,000 proprietary characters including "Spider-Man", "Captain America", "Iron Man" and "Thor".
All of Marvel's upcoming studio deals will stay in place including the 20th Century Fox' "X-Men" franchise and Sony Pictures' “Spider-Man.”
Paramount Pictures will continue to release Marvel’s “Iron Man” films until the deal expires.
The acquisition has been approved by the boards of both companies but must be approved by Marvel shareholders...
