Universal Makes A Date With "The Bride Of Frankenstein"...

Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment are in talks with Neil "The Illusionist" Burger to write/direct a remake of director James Whale's 1935 feature "The Bride Of Frankenstein".

The original film starred actor Boris Karloff as 'The Monster', with Elsa Lanchester as 'the bride', in a sequel that began with the 1931 feature "Frankenstein", rooted in a subplot of the 1818 novel "Frankenstein".

In "The Bride", 'Henry Frankenstein' (Colin Clive) abandons his plans to create life, then finally coerced by the Monster and encouraged by Henry's old mentor 'Dr Pretorius' into constructing a stitched-together re-animated corpse for him.

Universal is eager to develop remakes of its library of classic monster titles, including a new version of the 1954 feature "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and the release later this year of "The Wolf Man", starring actor Benicio Del Toro, updating the 1941 feature...
