Sneak Peek "The Rise Of Cobra"...

"G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" is the upcoming live action film adaptation of Hasbro's "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" toy franchise.

The new feature will be released August 7, 2009, drected by Stephen "The Mummy" Sommers, produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and written by Stuart Beattie, featuring an ensemble cast based on the various characters of the franchise.

Filming took place in Downey, California and Prague's Barrandov Studios.

Set ten years in the future, the film is an origin story, showing the rise of the reptilian 'Cobra Organization'.

"For people who know nothing about it, it'll make sense," said Sommers about the new film. "And to people who love this stuff, it'll show where they all came from."

The film foollows 'Duke' (Channing Tatum) and 'Ripcord' (Marlon Wayans) as they are inducted into the 'G.I. Joe Team'.

The film's actors were scanned for Hasbro's toy line which will begin July 2009 with the release of 3 3/4 inch tall action figures and 12 inch figures, vehicles, including the first play set based on the 'Pit'.

In other ancillary news, Electronic Arts is developing a video game sequel to the film, titled "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" and IDW Publishing started releasing a four-issue prequel in March, written by Chuck Dixon, focusing on 'Duke', 'Destro', the 'Baroness' and 'Snake-Eyes'...
