Budgeted at $170 million, "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" is the live action film adaptation of the "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" toy franchise, to be released August 7, 2009.

The film is directed by Stephen "The Mummy" Sommers, produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and written by Stuart Beattie.

"G.I. Joe" features an ensemble cast based on the various characters of the franchise, set ten years in the future as an 'origin' story, showing the rise of the reptilian 'Cobra Organization'.

"For people who know nothing about it, it'll make sense," said Sommers.
"And to people who love this stuff, it'll show where they all came from."

The film focuses on 'Duke' (Channing Tatum) and the induction of 'Ripcord' (Marlon Wayans) into the 'G.I. Joe Team', with CG locations including the Arctic, Paris, Moscow, Washington, D.C., Australia and the Sahara.

Cast includes Christopher Eccleston, Sienna Miller, Dennis Quaid, Ray Park, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Lee Byung-hun and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Rachel Nichols plays 'Scarlett'.

Scarlett' was the first female action figure in the "G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero" toy line and is also the only member of the original team to see action in cartoon, comic and Paramount's upcoming big screen movie incarnation.

As played by actress Nichols, Scarlett's real name is 'Shana M. O'Hara', born in Atlanta, Georgia, adept with standard weapons including a crossbow that fires specialized function bolts.

Scarlett's rank is 'Master Sergeant', with a specialty in counter intelligence, martial arts and acrobatics.

As Scarlett would say "Beauty may be skin deep, but lethal is to the bone..."
