After months of negotiations, "Mad Men" creator/executive producer Matthew Weiner has signed a two-year deal with Lionsgate TV that will keep him as the creative head of the Emmy-winning AMC drama.

"Mad Men" is set in 1960's New York City, at the Madison Avenue offices of advertising agency 'Sterling Cooper', focusing on the smoke and mirror talents of 'Don Draper' (John Hamm), a chain-smoking, high-level executive who isn't all he's cracked up to be.

Weiner's services will be covered for the show's third and fourth seasons as well as a component for a feature through Lionsgate.

Weiner said "Mad Men" has so far been "a charmed experience", crediting both AMC and Lionsgate as "two companies who love taking risks and value creativity."

Weiner nurtured his "Mad Men" spec script for seven years, working on HBO's "The Sopranos" before "MM" got a greenlight from AMC in 2006.

"It's a happy day," said Lionsgate's Kevin Beggs. "We're glad to have Matt back in the family. We look forward to next season and many more to come..."
