"Veronica Mars": The Feature...

Creator Rob Thomas said he is developing a feature film based on his TV series "Veronica Mars".

The show aired for two seasons, debuting September 22, 2004 on UPN and ended May 22, 2007, after one season on the CW Television Network.

Set in the fictional town of 'Neptune', "Veronica Mars" starred actress Kristen Bell as the title character, a student who progressed from high school to college during the series while moonlighting as a private investigator under the wing of her detective father.

Described as "a little bit Buffy and a little bit Bogart", the critically acclaimed first season's run of 22 episodes garnered an average of 2.5 million viewers per episode.

Thomas originally wrote "Veronica Mars" as a young adult novel for publishers Simon & Schuster. While writing for the series "Dawson's Creek", he developed his teen detective project as a spec script, changing the gender of the protagonist to a woman, because he thought a noir piece told from a female point of view would be more interesting and unique...
