Director Adam "Hairspray" Shankman will develop/produce a remake of the musical "Bye Bye Birdie" for Columbia Pictures.Shankman will join producer Doug Wick and Lucy Fisher of Red Wagon for the new feature with Offspring Entertainment executive producing.
Premise of the stage play follows 'Conrad Birdie', an Elvis Preley-type singer, who is drafted into the army, but as part of a publicity stunt, agrees to "One Last Kiss" with a teenage female fan before he is shipped off to war.
