The Sci Fi Channel has greenlit "Caprica," the prequel to the Vancouver-lensed "Battlestar Galactica", starring actors Eric Stoltz, Esai Morales, Paula Malcomson and Polly Walker, following a pilot shot earlier this year.
The family drama series will be set 50 years before the attack on human civilization by the 'Cylons', focuing on the Earthlike planet 'Caprica', where two rival families deal with the implications of emerging artificial intelligence.
Production will start next spring in Vancouver.The final TV run of "Galactica" will culminate on March 20. A two-hour movie adaptation, "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan," is slated to shoot in the summer.
