The fantasy TV series "Legend of the Seeker" is about to debut in syndication.

Premise follows the journey of young woods guide 'Richard Cypher' (Craig Horner) and a mysterious woman 'Kahlan Amnell' (Bridget Regan) to stop a vengeful wizard from unleashing an ancient power.

The show will become the first major action hour to go in syndication with a two-hour premiere, from distributor Disney-ABC Domestic Television and producer ABC Studios.

"Entertainment and fantasy and escapism are very important in the world right now," Disney-ABC Domestic Television president Janice Marinelli said.

"When we looked at the marketplace, there was very little first-run scripted programming available and thought there would be interest."

The 22 HD episodes of "Seeker" are adapted from the book series "Sword of Truth", by author Terry Goodkind.

Executive producers are Rob Tapert, Sam Raimi, Joshua Donen, Ned Nalle and Ken Biller.

But Tapert did not want to bring a campy approach to "Seeker", as he did with the series "Xena" and "Hercules."

"We wanted to make it much more real..."
