Phoenix Investigating "Jonathan Hoag"...

Phoenix Pictures is developing a feature based on sci fi author Robert A. Heinlein's novella "The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag," to be written/directed by Alex Proyas of "I, Robot" fame.

Phoenix principals Mike Medavoy, Arnie Messer and Brad Fischer will produce the adaptation, described as a complex psychological thriller.

Budget will be in the $40 million-$50 million range.

"The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag" was originally published in the October 1942 edition of "Unknown Worlds" magazine under the pseudonym 'John Riverside'.

Premise of the story follows a lover of art and fine dining who becomes disturbed when he realizes he cannot account for his daily activities, seeking out a private investigator to have himself followed...
