Kidman Doing "Dusty "...

Actress Nicole "Eyes Wide Shut" Kidman will produce/star in a feature film based on the life of British pop singer Dusty Springfield for Fox 2000.

The film will reunite Kidman with writer Michael Cunningham, author of the novel "The Hours." Cunningham will script the Springfield screenplay.

Kidman produces through her Fox-based Blossom Films banner, with Blossom's Per Saari involved in a producing capacity.

Born Mary O'Brien in Hampstead, London, 'Dusty Springfield' began her singing career in a Girl Group called the "Lana Sisters" during the late 1950s, before teaming up with her brother Dion O'Brien aka 'Tom Springfield' and Tim Field, as the 'Springfields'. She went solo in 1963, with her first hit single "I Only Want To Be With You". After a string of pop hits, she moved to the US and by the 1980's became addicted to alcohol and drugs. The band "Pet Shop Boys" used her to sing on their song "What Have I Done To Deserve This" as a tribute. She died in 1999...
