Sullivan Entertainment’s "Magic Flute Diaries", filmed in Toronto and Europe, will make its world premiere at the Palm Beach International Film Festival April 10-17.

The film has also been selected as a finalist for A&E’s IndieFilms Spotlight program, part of a national sponsored partnership between A&E and L’Oreal.

"Magic Flute Diaries" is a contemporary adaptation of the Mozart fantasy, set against the staging of an opera in Salzburg for the 250th celebration of Mozart’s birthday. An American singer becomes obsessed with a mysterious Russian soprano after he is cast as the lead 'Tamino'. Unable to distinguish between fantasy and reality, he finds himself seduced as much by Mozart’s music as by the bewitching diva.

"The concept for Mozart's Magic Flute as a movie came about as a part of a celebration of Mozart's 250th Birthday in Salzburg," said writer/director Kevin "Road To Avonlea" Sullivan.

"I wanted to create a kind of musical set in Salzburg, that contained the best music from the opera because I wanted to try and present the genius of Mozart in a way that made him accessible to a contemporary (and non-opera going audience), particularly a younger audience".

The film stars Rutger "Blade Runner" Hauer, Warren "Battlestar Galactica" Christie, singer Mireille Asselin and Toronto’s Opera Atelier Baroque Opera Company...
