DreamWorks continues developing graphic novel "Cowboys & Aliens" into a live action feature, with Imagine partners Brian Grazer and Ron Howard producing.

Platinum Studios Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Ervin Rustemagic and Rich Marincic also produce.

Screenplay is by Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, noted for "Children Of Men" and Marvel's upcoming "Iron Man".

"Cowboys & Aliens" mixes Western with Science Fiction movie genres, set in 1800's Arizona, when a skirmish between cowboys and Apaches is interrupted by the crash landing of a space ship and an alien 'commander' enslaves everyone.

Rosenberg created the concept, publishing the Platinum graphic novel in 2006.

The deal was pulled together by DreamWorks production president Adam Goodman and Universal production president Donna Langley. The studios previously teamed on "Gladiator" and "A Beautiful Mind."

Kurtzman and Orci produced the DreamWorks/Paramount live-action feature "Transformers."
