Director Guillermo "Hellboy" Del Toro is prepping a new take on author Mary Shelley's public domain Goth horror "Frankenstein".

The director told MTV News he’s always been interested in directing a version of "Frankenstein" and has crafted drawings which he hopes to use as a basis for the film.

"I started doing some notes before the WGA strike"” he revealed.

"I can only draw now."

Noted for last year's "Pan’s Labyrinth", Del Toro said he has a "definitive take" on the character.

"The only way to do the Shelley novel is to actually do a four-hour miniseries," he said.

"I think there are permutations in which you can tell the myth in a different way..."
