Guillermo "Hellboy" del Toro will write, direct and produce the sci-fi feature "Champions" for United Artists, based on the 1968-69 UK TV series "Champions".Story follows the adventures of a team of secret government agents rescued from a plane crash by an advanced civilization, then given superhuman powers.
Created by Monty Berman and Dennis Spooner, the TV series starred Stuart Damon, Alexandra Bastedo and William Gaunt, produced by ITC.Tom Cruise's C/W Prods. will produce the new film with Granada's Robert Green executive producer.
