Development continues on "X-Men" producer Lauren Shuler-Donner's "Metal Men" feature for Warner Bros Pictures.

"'Metal Men' is much more like 'Men in Black'," she said. "It's miles away from 'X-Men'. It's lighter and it's fun with a lot of CGI ..."

The first 1962 "Metal Men" comic books were written/edited by Robert Kanigher and drawn by Ross Andru/Mike Esposito.

Key stories include "The Flaming Doom", "The Nightmare Menace", "The Day the Metal Men Melted" and "Rain of the Missile Men".

As detailed in 1962's "The Flaming Doom", pipe-chewing inventor 'Dr. Will Magnus' created the robots with personality 'responsometers' and an ability to reduce their own composition into 'blobs' of molten metals, shape-shifting at will, into inanimate objects of any size.

The core group is made up of 'Platinum' (Tina), a sensitive female with an uncontrollable crush on Magnus, 'Tin', shy and mild-mannered, 'Gold', the virtuous leader, 'Iron', the strongest, dim-witted Lead' and hot-headed 'Mercury'...

In new stories, Magnus must rescue his Metal Men from destruction, or be doomed to wander forever "Inside In the Inside Out"...
