Lionsgate have announced development of a re-make of writer/director David Cronenberg's 1981, Canadian-shot horror thriller "Scanners".
As conceived by Cronenberg, 'scanners' are people with telepathic/telekinetic abilities, documented by 'ConSec', a corporation specializing in weaponry/security systems.
ConSec captures 35-year-old derelict 'Cameron Vale' (Stephen Lack) who demonstrates 'scanner-power' during an outburst at a mall.
The villain of the film is scanner renegade 'Darryl Revok', played by Canadian Michael "Starship Troopers" Ironside.
