According to Nielsen Media Research, 11.9 million viewers watched HBO's "The Sopranos" finale last week.

ABC, CBS and Fox, available in 111 million homes at no extra charge, aired nothing last week that did better than the fourth-most watched episode of "The Sopranos", since the series debut in 1999.

But angry viewers called for series creator David Chase to talk about the motives behind the reportedly 'uneventful' ending of the series, showing life as usual for the New Jersey crime boss.

" I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there," Chase said. "People get the impression that you're trying to (fuck) with them, and it's not true. You're trying to entertain them."
