Silver Takes On Live-Action "He-Man"

In the wake of director Michael Bay's upcoming "Transformers" live-action feature, comes word that Joel "Lethal Weapon" Silver will produce a new, live-action version of "He-Man", based on the popular line of the "Masters of the Universe" toys.

The original Filmation Studios animated series, inspired by Robert E. Howard's "Conan The Barbarian", was first syndicated in 1983 and ran until 1985, with 130 episodes, featuring He-Man defending 'Eternia' and the secrets of 'Castle Grayskull' from the evil forces of 'Skeletor'.

The series was followed in 1990 by "The New Adventures of He-Man".

The first series was set during the aftermath of a 'Great War' . The 'Sorceress of Castle Grayskull', aka 'The Goddess', gave 'Prince Adam', the son of planet Eternia's 'King Randor' and the earthling 'Queen Marlena' his He-Man super powers.

Prince Adam would hold aloft his 'Sword of Power', proclaiming, "By the power of Grayskull...I have the power!" His green tiger 'Cringer' would then change into the armored 'Battle Cat'.

He-Man's love interest is 'Teela', the female 'Captain of the Royal Guard' and adoptive daughter of mentor 'Duncan', aka 'Man-At-Arms'. She was eventually revealed to be the only daughter of The Sorceress.

He-Man's chief adversary Skeletor, is a blue-skinned sorcerer with a cowled skull for a head, skilled in black magic and combat. Skeletor's weapon of choice is the 'Havoc Staff', a ram's skull atop a rod that channels magic.

Skeletor's reptilian base of operations is 'Snake Mountain', a fortress made of polished black basalt located on the 'Dark Hemisphere' of Eternia. His motley crew of henchmen include witch 'Evil-Lyn', 'Beast Man', the lord of the animal world, bionic 'Trap-Jaw', multi-sighted 'Tri-Klops' and the the 'fish lord' known as 'Mer-Man'.

In 1987 a live-action "Masters of the Universe" feature was produced starring actor Dolph "The Punisher" Lundgren as Prince Adam.
