
Director Robert "Planet Terror" Rodriguez will helm an updated re-make of the 1968 sci-fi fantasy feature "Barbarella" set for a 2008 Universal release.
Rodriguez will work with "Casino Royale" writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.
Original "Barbarella" producer Dino De Laurentiis will executive produce the re-do with Martha De Laurentiis.
The sexy, "Barbarella" comic strip character was created in 1959 by French illustrator Jean-Claude Forest.
Purvis and Wade recently finished the screenplay for the next "James Bond" installment, "Bond 22", with Paul "Crash" Haggis working on the polish.
