Marvel Studios is developing a Broadway musical, starring comic book character 'Spider-Man', to be directed by Tony award winner Julie "The Lion King" Taymor.U2's Bono and the Edge will create the music and lyrics.
Auditions are currently taking place with a reading scheduled for the summer.
Producing are Hello Entertainment/David Garfinkle, Martin McCallum, Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Hello Entertainment is also arranging all financing.
DC Comics character "Superman" was the focus of the 1966, Alvin Theatre Broadway musical "It's a Bird, It's a Plane, It's Superman".
