Ford Mondeo Is Bond's First Car

A specially-built 2007 'Ford Mondeo' vehicle is showcased in a sequence, filmed on location in the Bahamas for EON Productions' upcoming 'James Bond 21' feature Casino Royale, opening November 17, 2006.

Although Aston Martin remains James Bond's car of choice, the new Mondeo is the first car to appear in the film as Bond uses it to drive to a hotel after arriving in the Bahamas on the trail of a terrorist cell. We're delighted to be part of this exciting new 'Bond' project," said Stephen Odell, Ford of Europe VP for Marketing Sales/Service. Fitted with a sports bodykit and finished in 'Tonic Blue', the new Mondeo vehicle was constructed by hand at Ford of Europe's Design Studio in Cologne, Germany, January, 2006. The car was then shipped under secrecy to the filming location in the Bahamas. The new Mondeo was essentially still on the drawing board when we were asked to supply the vehicle for filming in February 2006," said Martin Smith, Ford of Europe's Executive Director for Design. As volume production for the car doesn't start until the second quarter of 2007, we had to create a driveable model based around a design studio property. A team of craftsmen in Ford's Merkenich Design Studio near Cologne, worked night and day for several weeks to complete the car and make it driveable." This team normally builds the clay and fiberglass models of all of our future products, so they are used to demanding timeframes and making full-scale models look like real vehicles," Smith added.Despite the speed with which it was constructed, and the non-standard materials that were used to build it, the Design team was determined to make the car look suitable for the role. "We wanted the property to be fully representative of a top-of-the-range new Mondeo," Smith added. "The end result is so convincing that you would never know its origins, and we even added a unique body kit to the vehicle to emphasise its sporty and dynamic design.
The car will also feature in a specially made pan-European Ford TV commercial inviting viewers to 'discover the secret world of 007'. For Ford of Europe, this is not the first time that a popular new model has been previewed in a Bond film before the car itself has gone on sale. In 1976, as Ford was about to launch its Taurus-Cortina, the company provided a pre-production vehicle for a brief appearance in "The Spy Who Loved Me', filmed on Sardinia's Costa Smeralda. In that sequence, Bond is chased by the car which careens off a mountain road and through the roof of a cottage. "Casino Royale" began principal photography, January 30, 2006 in the Czech Republic. Produced for Eon Productions by Michael G. Wilson/Barbara Broccoli and directed by Martin Campbell, the film is based on author Ian Fleming's first Bond novel, published in 1953.

'Invisible Woman' Revealed in "Rise of the Silver Surfer"

The upcoming Fox comic book-to-film feature "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" has been shooting continuity scenes for more than a week, focusing on the wedding of Marvel Comics' stretchy superhero character 'Reed Richards', aka 'Mr. Fantastic' and 'Sue Storm', aka 'The Invisible Woman'.

Crew-snapped pictures of the event are beginning to surface on the web, showing sexy actress Jessica Alba, apparently tossing her bridal bouquet, almost revealing more of 'The Invisible Woman' than anticipated:

All You Have To Do Is Dream

Loosely based on the rise of Motown's "The Supremes", the Tony Award winning Dreamgirls follows the story of "The Dreamettes", a trio of women singers, featuring 'Effie' (Jennifer Hudson), 'Deena' (Beyonce Knowles) and 'Lorrell' (Anika Noni Rose).

At a talent competition, the group are discovered by manager 'Curtis Taylor Jr.' (Jamie Foxx), who offers the girls an opportunity to become back-up singers for headliner 'James Early', aka 'Thunder' (Eddie Murphy).

Curtis takes control of the group's look and sound, giving them a shot in the spotlight as "The Dreams".

But the cost of fame and fortune soon becomes a very high price to pay.
