Warner Independent Pictures has announced that "The Painted Veil" will open in Toronto and Vancouver, December 29 and in other major cities across Canada, January 5.Based on the classic novel by author W. Somerset Maugham, "The Painted Veil" is a love story set in 1920's England that follows the story of 'Walter', a middle class doctor and 'Kitty', an upper-class woman, who get married for the wrong reasons.
Relocating to Shanghai, Kitty falls in love with someone else.
When he uncovers her infidelity, Walter, in an act of vengeance, accepts a job in a remote village in China and takes her along.The film stars Naomi Watts, Edward Norton, Liev Schreiber and Toby Jones, directed by John Curran, from a screenplay by Ron Nyswaner.
