Paranoia and Fear For TV's "The Conversation"

According to reports, producer Tony "24" Krantz, with writers Christopher "The Usual Suspects" McQuarrie and Emmy Award winner Erik "Band of Brothers" Jendresen, will adapt writer/director Francis Ford Coppola's 1974 feature "The Conversation" into a weekly TV series for ABC.

Coppola will executive produce.

The original film starred actor Gene Hackman as surveillance expert 'Harry Caul', with John Cazale as 'Stan', Frederic Forrest as 'Mark', Harrison Ford as 'Martin Stett' and Robert Duvall as 'The Director'.

The TV pilot, set in the present day will focus on Caul, now adept at digital spying/audio surveillance while under constant observation by various government agencies.

Jendresen said the series will examine themes of "paranoia and fear".
