DreamWorks Goes 'WABAC" for "Peabody and Sherman"

DreamWorks Animation plans to bring the cartoon adventures of creator Jay Ward's "Mr. Peabody & Sherman" to the big screen. The stories of the brilliant dog 'Peabody' and his 'pet boy' 'Sherman' will be updated as a CG-animated feature.

The film will be directed by Rob Minkoff, making his first animated feature since "The Lion King".

Minkoff has since directed live-action films "Stuart Little" and "Stuart Little 2".

"Mr. Peabody & Sherman" originally appeared in Jay Ward's 1959 "Rocky and Bullwinkle" TV cartoon series.

In more than 90 cartoons, the characters would travel back in time in Peabody's 'WABAC Machine'.

Bullwinkle Studio's Tiffany Ward, daughter of Jay, in association with Classic Media's Eric Ellenbogen will executive produce the project, from a screenplay by Andrew "Camp Nowhere" Kurtzman.

"DreamWorks Animation and director Rob Minkoff are the perfect team to bring my dad's beloved characters to the big screen," said Tiffany.
