South African video director Neill Blomkamp will helm the video game-to-movie adaptation "Halo", based on the X Box series of video games.Premise of the games follow space marine 'Master Chief' and his companion 'Cortana' as they save the Earth from evil alien forces known as the 'Flood'. The 'halo' is an artificial ring set in space, that can become a galaxy-destroying weapon.
Microsoft owns the licensing rights to the "Halo" franchise, with a new version of the game to be released in 2007.
The "Halo" movie is due to be released summer 2008.
