Sony Has a Stake in "30 Days of Night"

Dracula Life Size Bust

Josh "Black Hawk Down" Hartnett is in negotiations to star in the Sony horror adaptation "30 Days of Night", produced by Sam "Spider-Man" Raimi and Robert "Xena" Tapert, for Ghost House.

The film will be based on the 2002 graphic novel of the same name created by Steve Niles, Ben Templesmith and Ted Adams.

The story is set in Barrow, Alaska, where 30 days of continual winter darkness makes the town a feeding ground for vampires.

Hartnett will play one half of a husband-wife sheriff team who have to choose between saving themselves or risking their lives to save the town's other 4,500 residents.

David "Hard Candy" Slade will direct from a script by Stuart "Collateral" Beattie.

Executive producer of "30 Days of Night" is Dark Horse Comics' Mike Richardson, whose other comic book-to-film credits include "The Mask" and "Hellboy".
