“Popeye: A Clean Shaven Man”

The 1936 “Popeye’ theatrical cartoon short “A Clean Shaven Man”, was directed by Dave Fleischer and Seymour Kneitel, starring Jack Mercer as ‘Popeye’, Mae Questel as ‘Olive’ and Gus Wicke as ‘Bluto’:

‘…Olive Oyl’, working in a diner, gushes romantically in front of grubby-looking ‘Popeye’ and ‘Bluto’ about a ‘clean shaven’ man.

“So the boys quickly visit the barber shop. ‘Wimpy’ is out, so they shave each other.

“As Popeye let’s Bluto come at him with a razor…”
