"Honey West" Investigates AudioComics

The AudioComics Company reports it will be the official audio theatre production arm for comic book publishers Moonstone Entertainment, producing full-cast adaptations of its licensed and original comic books and graphic novels, as well as selections from their line of short story anthologies.

The pieces will be available on compact disc and pay-per-Mp3 digital download through a variety of outlets, including Moonstone's online store, at comic book conventions, the iTunes store and community audio drama showcases across North America.

The first collaboration will be 'Honey West', adapted by Elaine Lee from her mini-series "Murder on Mars", starring Carrington MacDuffie as 'Honey West'.

The original three issue story arc featured detective Honey West joining the cast of a mid-1960s low-budget science fiction movie (“Amazons of Mars”) to investigate the murder of the film’s starlet, 'Zu Zu Varga'. Honey must find out if the culprit is a scheming ingenue, a down-on-his-luck director, a jealous agent or an aging teen heartthrob.

"AudioComics brings a very professional quality sound, as well as great voice actors to the table, and the final result is the best we have heard," said Moonstone editor-in-chief Joe Gentile.

"It's not a plain ol' audio book, it's an audio play, like a private performance in your living room!"

"Underworld Awakening" In IMAX 3D

VancouverFilm.Net reports that IMAX Corporation and Sony Pictures Entertainment will release "Underworld Awakening", the Vancouver-lensed fourth installment in the supernatural-action franchise produced by Lakeshore Entertainment and creator Len Wiseman, to IMAX digital theatres, simultaneously with the film's worldwide release, January 20, 2012.

The newest chapter in the "Underworld" vampires vs werewolves saga marks the return of actress Kate Beckinsale in the title role as vampiric heroine 'Selene', who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both the 'Vampire' and 'Lycan' clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both nocturnal species.

"'Underworld' is one of Screen Gems' most important franchises, so it's important to us to present the movie as its fans want to see it: on the IMAX screen," said Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures Releasing.

"The 'Underworld' franchise has established a dedicated fan following and we think 'Underworld Awakening' will serve as a terrific kick off to our robust 2012 film slate," said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment.
