Yippee Ki-Yay For "Die Hard 5"

According to reports, the fifth 20th Century Fox "Die Hard" feature starring actor Bruce Willis as 'Detective John McClane' will be directed by Noam Murro ("Smart People").

The 2007 release of "Die Hard 4" aka "Live Free or Die Hard", grossed $383.5 million theatrical worldwide.

The "Die Hard" movie franchise kicked off with director John McTiernan's $28 million budgeted "Die Hard", released in 1988, written by Jeb Stuart and Steven E. de Souza, for producers Lawrence and Charles Gordon.

Based on the 1979 novel "Nothing Lasts Forever" by author Roderick Thorp, that book was a sequel to the novel "The Detective", previously adapted into a 1968 feature starring Frank Sinatra.

The "Die Hard" movie follows its source material closely, with much of the film's memorable scenes, characters and dialogue taken directly from "Nothing Lasts Forever", which was adapted as a stand-alone movie when Sinatra refused to do a sequel to "The Detective".

In 2009, comic book publishers Boom! Studios began publishing the early adventures of 'Detective John McClane', written by Howard Chaykin.

Theron Cast In Scott's "Prometheus"

According to reports actress Charlize Theron ("Aeon Flux") has joined Noomi Rapace ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") and Michael Fassbender ("X-Men: First Class") in director Ridley Scott's upcoming 20th Century Fox alien feature "Prometheus".

The initial draft of the script was written by Jon Spaihts ("The Darkest Hour") from an idea by Scott. Damon Lindelof ("Star Trek") and Scott are currently developing the screenplay.

"While 'Alien' was indeed the jumping off point for this project," said Scott, "out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place.

"The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the singular tale I’d been searching for and finally return to this genre that’s so close to my heart."

Swedish actress Rapace will play the character 'Elizabeth Shaw'.

Scott’s original 1979 "Alien" feature, was 'inspired' by the 1958 sci-fi horror movie "It! The Terror From Beyond Space".

"Alien" was scripted by Dan O'Bannon from a story by Ronald Shusett, starring Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto.

"Alien" was produced through Brandywine Productions and distributed by 20th Century Fox, with producers David Giler and Walter Hill making significant revisions and additions to the script.

The original 'Alien' creature was designed by Swiss surrealist artist H. R. Giger, while concept artists Ron Cobb and Chris Foss designed the human aspects of the film.

Scott's "Alien" received an Academy Award for 'Best Visual Effects', in addition to a Hugo Award for 'Best Dramatic Presentation'. "Alien" was also inducted into the US National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 2002 for historical preservation as a film which is "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

The success of Scott's film, spawned an "Alien" media franchise of novels, comic books, video games and toys, as well as three sequel and two prequel films.
