Spotlight On "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows"

Sneak Peek the second trailer supporting Warners upcoming release "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows", the second Warners feature starring actors Robert Downey Jr. as 'Sherlock Holmes' and Jude Law as 'Dr. Watson'.

Directed by Guy Ritchie, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows" is produced by Joel Silver, Lionel Wigram, Susan Downey and Dan Lin.

The film is a sequel to the 2009 feature "Sherlock Holmes" based on the character of the same name, created by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

In the new movie, Holmes and Watson', join forces to outwit the 'cunning' adversary, 'Professor Moriarty' :

"...Sherlock Holmes has always been the smartest man in the room... until now. There is a new criminal mastermind at large—Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris)—and not only is he Holmes' intellectual equal, but his capacity for evil, coupled with a complete lack of conscience, may actually give him an advantage over the renowned detective.

"When the Crown Prince of Austria is found dead, the evidence, as construed by 'Inspector Lestrade' (Eddie Marsan), points to suicide.

But Sherlock Holmes deduces that the prince has been the victim of murder—a murder that is only one piece of a larger and much more portentous puzzle, designed by one Professor Moriarty.

"Mixing business with pleasure, Holmes tracks the clues to an underground gentlemen's club, where he and his brother, 'Mycroft Holmes' (Stephen Fry) are toasting Dr. Watson on his last night of bachelorhood. It is there that Holmes encounters 'Sim' (Noomi Rapace), a Gypsy fortune teller, who sees more than she is telling and whose unwitting involvement in the prince's murder makes her the killer's next target. Holmes barely manages to save her life and, in return, she reluctantly agrees to help him.

"
The investigation becomes ever more dangerous as it leads Holmes, Watson and Sim across the continent, from England to France to Germany and finally to Switzerland. But the cunning Moriarty is always one step ahead as he spins a web of death and destruction—all part of a greater plan that, if he succeeds, will change the course of history.."

Marvel Studios Conjuring Up "Doctor Strange"

Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige talked about a big screen "Doctor Strange" motion picture @ the New York Comic Con, and about how next year's "The Avengers" feature will pave the way for 'phase two' of the 'Marvel Cinematic Universe'.

"I think I can probably say sooner rather than later in some announcements on 'Doc Strange'," said Feige. "I would love to see him part of 'phase two'..."

A big screen adaptation of Marvel Comics' 'Sorcerer Supreme', "Dr. Strange" has always interested parent company Disney, looking to be part of a potential billion dollar earning, "Harry Potter"-type 'sorcery' movie franchise, with several spin-off possibilities including Strange tutoring a young novice (s) .

Following their Marvel Comics' success with "The Amazing Spider-Man", writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko debuted'Doctor Strange' in Marvel Comics' "Strange Tales" #110 (July 1963), fashioning the physical look of the character after creator Lee Falk's popular, 1930's comic strip character "Mandrake The Magician".

'Dr. Stephen Strange' was an arrogant, womanizing world-renowned neurosurgeon, until a Chappaquiddick-like car accident damaged his hands, preventing him from conducting surgery.

In desperation, a bitter Strange seeks out a legendary Tibetan hermit living in a 'Lost Horizon' of the Himalayas who may have a cure for his debilitating condition. Strange finds 'The Ancient One', possessed of the knowledge of sorcerous spells and incantations, invoking names and aspects of extra-dimensional objects and beings of power.

Some of these phenomena include the 'Flames of the Faltine', the 'Shades of the Seraphim' and the 'Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth'.

When Strange selflessly thwarts the evil ambitions of the Ancient One's disciple 'Baron Mordo', the 500-year old wizard tutors Strange in the 'mystic arts', teaching him how to use magical artifacts to augment his power, including the 'Cloak of Levitation', the all-seeing 'Eye of Agamotto' and the 'Book of the Vishanti'.

Strange uses his magic to achieve a number of effects, including energy projection, teleportation, telepathy and astral projection.

Strange was also schooled in the use of addictive and corruptive 'dark magic' by one-time foe 'Kaluu', using it to destroy the entity known as 'Shuma-Gorath'.

Doctor Strange has been featured in several self-titled Marvel Comics series and Marvel-endorsed products including arcade/video games, animated TV series, a direct-to-DVD film and merchandise including trading cards.
