Ellen Page: Whip It Good...

Halifax, Nova Scotia-born actress Ellen "Juno" Page will star for director Drew Barrymore in Mandate Pictures' upcoming $10 million budgeted roller derby feature "Whip It!".

Premise of the story will focus on 'Bliss', who lives in a small Texas town, pushed into beauty pageants, then joins a female roller derby team.

Derby star Shauna Cross, aka 'Maggie Mayhem' and author of "Derby Girl", wrote the screenplay.

Originally set up at Warner Bros. for Barrymore's Flower Films, "Whip It!" reteams Page with Mandate, producers of director Jason Reitman's break-out hit "Juno".

"I can't wait to kick ass on wheels," said Page.

Barry "Rushmore" Mendel will produce, with executive producers Peter Douglas, Nancy Juvonen, Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith and Nathan Kahane.

Production will start this summer in Texas.
